Legal Question in Tax Law in Michigan

My husband, myself and our 2 children are Canadians living in the U.S. My husband is now a U.S. citizen, but we are not. If we should die we were told we would have to pay a lot more in taxes since we are not US citizens. Do you know if this is true?
