Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan

Driving on a Suspended License

I got pulled over for ''Failure to yield''. My license is suspended and I got a ticket for my 2nd driving while license is suspended. The officer impounded my vehicle but did not arrest me. What are my options?

Re: Driving on a Suspended License

Don't just go to court and plead guilty as your license will be suspended for an additional like amount of time, you will receive $2000 in driver responsibility fees and you would be exposing yourself to up to 1 year in jail on a second or subsequent offense. Re: Driving on a Suspended License

The fact that you weren't arrested is not a good sign. it usually means the prosecutor will be seeking a warrant for your arrest.

After getting your vehicle out of impound (bring another driver), keep an eye on your mailbox. When the Notice to Appear arrives, you'll have more information to convey to a lawyer.

Re: Driving on a Suspended License

You need to retain a lawyer to negotiate the best deal possible with the prosecutor since you are facing a misdemeanor charge, and likely more suspension time.
