I was the 4th generation to receive very valueable airloom when father passed bu

when my father passed I was to receive a very extensive and valuable coin and stamp collection that has been in the family for 3 generations and I would be the 4th.I hadn't talked to my father for a couple of years befor he passed away but was always told while growing up that it would be mine someday no matter what might happen in the future becaused that was the requested bye my great grand father the one who started the collections that they be passed to the youngest male in the family. I would like to know how to go about getting a copy of my fathers will and see what was left to who. There was just my brother and I who my father didn't even name in his will. parents were divorced and he remarried. If any step children due to 2nd. marriage is unknown.Any info.I would be very greatful and if legal service is required would be glad to arange for representation. I live in Ca. now and have 1 child, a girl and would not have to pass collections on to anyone else. My father also had a lot of stocks and bonds from his job with GM. Life insurance policies and property in N.Mich. and in texas from when his mother passed.

You can check the probate court in the county where he resided to see if a will was filed or probate estate started. My guess is that he made a trust and this is not filed anywhere nor is there any way to find out it's contents without a lawsuit. Unless you have some evidence in writing that would justify forcing the family to disclose the contents of the trust, you may be out-of-luck. William S. Stern 248-353-9400

You will either need to (a) open a probate estate as an interested party (b) hire counsel to represent you if one has already been opened and/or begin a law suit if he drafted a trust to discover the contents of the same. Feel free to contact me for more info - 248.569.1900.
