Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

does the exectutor of the will have to give an account of the monies left to the heirs, and an account of what value items left to them are.. My sister will not give me or my brother a copy of the will and will not answer any of my phone calls since last March. My Mother left us a house free and clear and cds in the bank. My sister has told me there is no money. The house has been broken into and vandelised twice in the lqast two months. What rights do I have as an heir? sincerly, William M Laqsater

Yes. The executor or Personal representative must provide an inventory listing all of the estate assets and the value of same. In addition, the Personal Representative must provide an accounting of the estate. As an heir, you are entitled to a copy of the will, the inventory and the accounting. Your sister may not have initiated an estate by filing an application or petition with the County Probate Court. Regardless of her actions/inactions I may be able to help you and your brother proceed to secure the vacant home and sell same through the probate court system, if required.
