Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

My husband's step mother has terminal breast cancer. The house where she and her husband (my father-in-law) live is just in her name. She owned the house before they were married. They have been married for about 14 years. Will the house automatically transfer to him when she dies or do they need to put the house in his name while they can? They live in Michigan.

The house will not automatically transfer to him at her death. There are several different possibilities she may want to consider to protect the house and make sure it goes to the people she would have it benefit.

Consider a Quit Claim deed from her to her and him or just from her to him.
