Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

Mother passed away while living in assisted living. Only asset is a bank account of ~100,000 with four adult children named as beneficiaries in a will. After I insure that all medical bills have been paid (there is no other debt), can I write checks to distribute the remaining funds without involving probate?

It depends on whether the account is joint or payable to the children or whether the asset is in moms name only and distributes it through the will. If the latter, yes, probate would be needed.
