Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

probate

mY mother passe away and her condo is in her name only. It's worth about 80,000.00 and she has a car worth about 3000.00. She had a life insurance policy worth $5000 left to me and $37,000 in Ira left to me and my sisters. She has about $11,000 in credit card bills. Do we need to go to probate to sell her car and condo ? Is there any other reason to go to probate court. We don't know what to do.

Based on the facts you provided, unfortunately probate is necessary to obtain a court order allowing for the real estate to be transferred.

Even if you have to probate the estate, if everyone agrees, it can be a fairly straightforward process.
