Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota
I have recently been sued for a debt. The debtor used an address that was not my own to send out the court summons. I called them and they stated that was the address I provided the hospital that I received care at. I called the hospital. They stated that was not the address I provided. Now they are levying my account. I was wondering if it is illegal to sue someone using a false address for them?

Your remedy is a motion to vacate the judgment. You should probably consult an attorney about that. Also, you may want to considering paying the creditor, settling with the creditor, or filing bankruptcy if your debts are substantial.

I the address was incorrect, you may challenge the propriety of the service. If a Judgement was entered, as soon as you find out about the error, it is incumbent upon you to file a Motion seeking to vacate the Judgment.
