Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Minnesota

In the interest of honesty, my husband and I both have a criminal charge against. His is a result of my doing, mine a result of stupidity. We have a well retained attorney handling the matters in the state it all occurred.

Fast forward, my husband retires and we move to another state.

we found out today that someone in the state from which we moved has sent an email to the pastors and staff of a church we associated here. We don't know the exact content, but will receive a copy we hope. this has caused immediate and severe emotional upset, depression, humiliation, etc. again, we have not been convicted of anything. do we have any recourse and if so what?
