Legal Question in Health Care Law in Minnesota

I'm pedestrian w/no car - hit and run. Will health ins pay?

A car hit me a few months ago, but I did not get the license plate or the driver's information. I do not own a car. I walked to the hospital, the hospital took several X-rays, but I just had bruises. Later, I had pleurisy. My health insurance, Blue Cross, is now saying that they probably won't cover the claim because it was a car accident (even though I was a pedestrian, don't own a car, and didn't get the driver's info). Am I going to be out a lot of money? V. worried...

You should have a right to file a grievance with your health care insurer. Pleurisy is a condition that is not directly attributable to a car accident, and their refusal to cover it would appear, to me, to be unreasonable. I would follow the procedures in your health care plan and contest the refusal to cover. I would see a lawyer if they do not reverse that decision.
