Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota

Hostile wor environment

I am having trouble with my boss. He is very demeaning to everyone below him (unless you are a guy). When hes mad he swears and throws things, tells us to get our heads out of our a***s. ect. We are made to feel guilty if we call in sick. We are given sick time vacation time ect. by the company. I dread coming to work because you never know what kind of mood he will be in. Some of the things he says he knows are wrong because he follows the statement with oh i better not say that someone might call hr on me. We have complained to hr..and he was ''talked to''. Apparently its not being taken seriously, and our hr rep thinks we are just being overly sensitive..am I being overly sensitive when I get upset after being out with my sick child and coming back to find an email on shared computer written by him saying that hes fed up with the call ins..hes sick of that S***t, suck it up g** D****T and show up to work. He is constantly farting on people(the other guys) and its funny to him. I think its disgusting and unprofessional. Im ready to quit. But i need my job..what can I do?

Re: Hostile wor environment

SOunds like you have correctly identified a classic hostile work environment. I assume you are NOT union and have no written employment contract. Do you have an employee manual or handbook.

Next step (if you retained me) would be transmission of a letter directing him to Cease and Desist. Thereafter, an injunction to be issued by the Court under the MN Human Rights Act.
