Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota

I have a non-compete with a company and I called another company in the industry about work today and they informed me my previous company contacted them and informed them I have a non-compete for a year and they can't hire me if I contact them. Is this Legal for them to contact companies like that?

First- you should have an experienced business attorney review the agreement and the facts surrounding its execution to determine if it is valid and enforceable.

Then- if it is valid, the circumstances surrounding the communication should be reviewed.

If the communication was truthful and the agreement valid, they may be on solid ground.

Otherwise- you may have an action vs. former/current employer.
