Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota

Buying a House

I am in the process of buying my Daughters house.

I have a mortgage company that I am going though.

We have sign a lot of the papers aready, but now the they want us to sign some paper though a Realtor and I am wondering why I would have to get a realtor involved in this, when it was not listed though any Real Estate company.

Is this something that is required. Or is this something that I will be paying for and is not needed.

Thank you

Re: Buying a House

You should not sign any papers that you do not understand. Only a lawyer who represents your interests (not your daughter's or the bank's) can help you go through these papers and decide what is and is not appropriate. Not everything a bank asks for is necessarily required or even appropriate. The money you spend on a lawyer now may be much less than the potential liability you are taking on.

Mr. Vatndal is right. Lawyers are cheap compared to the mess you can have without one.
