Legal Question in Traffic Law in Minnesota

Traffic Stop

I was pulled over in the evening. clearly not a mn state resident. the cop was very rude to me because i had only rolled my window down enough for us to communicate. I was polite while asking the officer why she pulled me over however she said rudly to me that i didnt have to give her an attitude and that she pulled me over for driving on nicollet mall. after asking why she stated only buses and taxis are allowed to drive on nicollet mall. after i explained that my wife and i were staying at the hotel hyatt regency located on nicollet mall she proceeded to give me a ticket for driving on nicollet mall even though i was clearly from out of state and just got into town. I want to sue the state of minnesota for this major inconvenience. I have to drive on nicollet mall in order to enter the hyatt regency parking ramp and the state should not make it illegal for me to do so.!!!!!!Can I sue?

Re: Traffic Stop

I am afraid that the signs posted and the law indicates that Nicollet Mall is for pedestian and common carrier traffic only. As a result, the stop and the ticketwere appropriate. Unfortunately, there is no viable lawsuit against an officer for executing his/her duty regardless of how rude he/she may have been.
