Legal Question in Administrative Law in Mississippi

Obtaining criminal investigation records

My fiance was killed and a coverup by the city is very probable according to the crime test and other info. It went before a grand jury twice without an indictment. What information from the police and investigation (crime tests, autopsy, ect.) can be obtained by the family of the victom? How do you obtain it?

Re: Obtaining criminal investigation records

You can submit a written request under the Freedom of Information Act. If the request is denied without legal authority, the denying authority will have to pay your attorney fees if you obtain an injunction in court. Alternatively, you can file a suit in court and obtain the documentation through formal discovery if the statute of limitations has not run for sueing the city.
