Legal Question in Criminal Law in Mississippi

I have been held for more than 270 day without a bond or a Grand jury indictment on a murder charge with no witnesses on a statement by an investigating police officer.

You should IMMEDIATELY obtain COMPETENT CRIMINAL DEFENSE COUNSEL and retain the Attorney to file a Motion to Dismiss for failure to provide speedy trial, (statutorily and Constitutionally). You will need to be able to show prejudice to your case through spoilation of evidence, or loss of evidence or loss of a witness (or multiple witnesses) due to the unreasonable delay in proceeding with the case.
