Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

Abusive spouse

My situation is etremely complicated, it involves a business, new home and a emotional abusive husband. I have been married for 5 years and prior to marriage I lived and worked for this man for 2 years. I am currently trying to hide from him because he will try to make me come back to him through itimidation tactics and threats to do things against my family.

He is currently living in our new home and running our business which he says I have no right to any monies to live with. He moved me to a small town where he was originally from and I do not know one person that I can call a friend. He is telling everyone that I am a drug addict and I took all our money to use for drugs and left him with nothing. These are all lies, but I can't stop him, He is threatening to take my vehicle and have me arrested for taxes that he told me not to pay, I have been like an indentured servant all this time. What can I do? He closed our joint accounts and is not paying any bills that were in my name.

Re: Abusive spouse

You need to retain counsel and file for temporary relief under rule 81. Your lawyer will understand. Basically, you can file for a temp hearing (usually takes a week or two) and also file a temp restraining order to estop him from destroying marital assets.

Let me know if I may be of additional service.
