Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

My ex boyfriend left me when he found out I was pregnant with his child (2003). He would not come to the hospital for her birth and would not sign the birth certificate. A few times in the first year I asked for help and was told to "f" off and stop calling him. We lived one block off the beach when Katrina hit, he would not help us evacuate. After the storm i informed him we were alive but lost everything and had no insurance. He said "so what, everybody lost everything and STOP CALLING ME, I don't care!" I have not spoken to him until October 2015, when I had to get my child on state insurance and they contacted him. He outright told me "If I am going to pay child support, Im getting visitation'. I have never, ever told my 10 1/2 year old daughter that she could not go. I let her go for Christmas, Easter, MOTHER'S DAY, and ANY other time she wants to go. In almost 11 years, he has paid me twice, April 2015 and May 2015. I was served papers today, he wants visitation in writing, he wants to file her on his taxes, he wants to be on the birth certificate, and joint custody. And says he has been supporting her since November 2014, NOT true!! My current boyfriend has raised and supported my daughter since she was 2 years old as his own, he has no other children. I am not trying to keep my daughter from the birth father but I do not understand why hes has the rights, and the nerve to ask for anything in writing. Can I get back child support for the last 10 1/2 years?? I told him to pay for 10 years and then he could have whatever he wanted. And his reason for being absent is he was drunk the whole time. I thank you so very much, hope you weren't bored to the lenght of my letter. Rebecca Galiano

You were served. You are going to have to answer these matters. If there is a support order in place you can collect back as well I strongly suggest retaining counsel immediately. This is not something you should attempt to handle on your own
