Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

seperate maintenance

My best friend has been trying to get a divorce from his wife for the past 4 years. His wife has been diagnosed with leukemia and has went into remission. The judge has denied him a divorce even though she is now in remission. He has also been ordered to pay seperate maintenance, and she is entitled to half of everything he has with his job. Legally, how long does he have to pay her seperate maintenance before the judge will grant him a divorce?

thanks

Re: seperate maintenance

Sounds like there must be more to it than that. I would think that if she is in remission, that should give him a green light to move forward with the divorce. You may want to try filing a new complaint/petition...maybe you can pull a different judge.
