Can my supervisor demand to know where I was when I was out for a family emergency?

Your supervisor can fire you for no reason at all or for any reason whatsoever, so long as the reason for the termination is not based on "race, creed, color, sex, national origin (and in some cases only AGE)" thus technically no he or she has no right to know where you were but your failure to advise your whereabouts may result in termination without anything you can do about it.
