How do I find out who the beneficiary is to my social security if something was to happen to me? I have been maried and divorced a few times and want to make sure my current wife is the beneficiary.

Re: who is the beneficiary

Go to http://www.ssa.gov/online/ssa-2.html for information about what your wife will need to obtain benefits.

However, according to the SSA website, if you divorced after at least 10 years of marriage, your ex can collect retirement benefits on your Social Security record if she is at least age 62 and you are entitled to or receiving benefits. If she remarries before age 60, she generally cannot collect benefits on your record unless her later marriage ends. Therefore, if an ex meets the 10 year threshhold, you will need to determine if she remarried before age 60. To find out, you can ask for her cooperation with your discovery, or sue in Chancery for a declaratory judgment.
