Jurist diction for State Highway Patrol Officers
I received a speeding ticket from a MS Highway Patrol Officer on the Natchez Trace Parkway - a federal thoroughfare. Was the State Trooper within his jurist diction on the federal highway? Should I contest the ticket in court?

The short answer is you will need to talk to an attorney in the local area who practices DUI defense. When you contest jurisdiction it will be up to the prosecution to prove it has jurisdiction so there is no real burden to you for contesting jurisdiction. There is a possibility that the Feds have exclusive jurisdiction and the Highway Patrol was outside his authority, and it depends on the deed for the land that is the site of your alleged offense.
