Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Mississippi

will and quitclaim

I was joint owner with survivorship on a property, built a house, then was married. A quitclaim was done by all owners of the property unto me. If I pass I want my wife to inherit the home; is a will be sufficient to convey my wishes

Re: will and quitclaim

A will is one way for your wife to inherit the home. A deed from you to both of you with right of survivorship will avoid probate as to the home. If you die without a will or the survivorship deed, then she would ordinarily inherit a child's part as there are exceptions in certain situations involving step-children.
