Legal Question in Business Law in Missouri

I am getting ready to enter into a general business partnership with a friend of mine. Last week my partner was pulled over in a traffic stop and the police found a small amount of marijuana in the car and I started to have questions.

My question is - Had they found a large amount of drugs (or anything illegal) could our business, including everything I had put into it, be seized by the police? And would this also apply to a General Partnership LLC?

Unless the business was involved in the distribution or holding of the drugs, it is unlikely that the state would be able to claim any of the partnership's assets. But, if he were in a company car when he got stopped and arrested, they might be able to sieze that vehicle.

In addition to the above answer I would add that the authorities may in certain situations attempt to seize assets as being th product of illegal activity. So, if someone was a drug dealer and put the profits from the illegal activity into businessassets, the government may in fact come after thsoe business assets. Under the facts that you give I would not think that you have anything to worry about.
