Legal Question in Technology Law in Missouri

Sharing digital music with my wife

My wife and I both have an mp3 player, and we buy a CD, is it legal to but the music files on both of the mp3 players or are we allowed to only have them on one mp3 player at a time. I know that the law says you can copy a CD to an mp3 player for your personal use, and since in Missouri there is no individual property law, is it legal to have the songs on both mp3 players?

You would probably need to look at the license agreement on the CD for an answer. But, barring big brother crashing down your door in the middle of the night to inspect your MP3 players, I doubt if you'd run into any problems. If you want to be safe, buy an extra copy of the CD.

If you sync your mp3 to the same music program, I think they'd have a hard time proving you were both using the song at the same time.

Good luck
