If a person fails to appear in court on default on a credit card can that person be taken to jail?

There ate no debtor"s prisons in America. Lots of people film to show up to Answer a Petition on an alleged credit card bill. The Plaintiff is usually granted a judgment by default, but the defendant doesn't go to jail. But, if they get a judgment, and seek to do a Debtor's exam, you could be arrested for failing to appear.
