Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

My boyfriend got a felony domestic abuse charge because when the cops came I said he had choked me, when in fact he did grab me by the neck but not in a choking manner, so I was subpoenaed to court to testify I went told my side of the story saying he grabbed me by my neck And applied some pressure, now I'm wondering if I call and tell the proscutor that he in fact didn't particular "choke" me, will I get in trouble for making the statement I made in court at his hearing?

It is now the State against your boyfriend, not you against your boyfriend. You are only a witness. Some prosecutors may allow you to file an Affidavit of Non-Prosecution (through an attorney), but others will not. Many thousands of such cases are brought every year. The victim makes up with the guy, and wants to drop everything, but the violence is repeated later. There are many social services availabmanle to help you through this. No woman should ever accept the abuse you describe. Your boyfriend should face the consequences of his behavior, and you may need to completely separate yourself from him and make better choices in the future. Men who physically attack women do not change. Talk to an attorney. I have handled hundred of these cases, do everything you can possibly do to protect yourself from this man.
