Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

Harrasment and Assualt

A few weeks ago I confronted my ex-girlfriend about cheating on me in a parking lot of a popular clothes store and grocery market. There were many other people around who could easily see and hear what was going on. Now her and one of the people she was with are saying that I beat her up in the parking. I have the names of many people who were there saying that I did no such thing. Now I am also receiving phone calls late at night swearing at me and telling me to go beat people up. I have no idea who these people are but I do know who is telling them to call me. I have also had people tell me that one of the people saying I beat her up is trying to pay people to come and beat me up. He has also called my house telling my friend and I ''to watch our backs'' about three times. I was wondering if I was able to press any kind of charges against them for going around and saying I did these things? I was also wondering if there was anything I could do about him calling and threatening my friends and I? I am also worried that my ex-girlfriend will call the police and say that I beat her up and that I will get a record for something I never did, and was wondering if there is anything the police could do in a situation like this?

Re: Harrasment and Assualt

FIRST, CHANGE YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER. SECOND, KEEP IN CONTACT WITH YOUR WITNESSES. THIRD, DO NOT BE ALONE. YOU NEED WITNESSES WITH YOU IN CASE THERE IS AN INCIDENT. IT SEEMS THAT YOU NEED MORE EVIDENCE TO PURSUE A CLAIM AGAINST HER.
