In looking up the city ordinances, the punishment for any violation of the section that contains fare violations is as follows:

716.180 - Penalties.

Every person who shall be convicted of a violation of any of the provisions of this chapter shall be fined not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or imprisoned in the St. Louis County Jail for not more than one year, or punished by both such fine and imprisonment.

Now it appears that "fare jumping" is a fine of up to $82.50 and a quick google search displayed several lawyers in St. Louis will take care of it for as little as $35.00.
