Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Missouri

Workplace discrimination

My company has a dress code that isn't followed or enforced by everyone within the company. I happen to be a person they feel the need to enforce the dresscode upon. I have be told that the reasoning behind this is because I am young, attractive, childless and unmarried. I've been in trouble at work over this before and I want to know if there is something I can do about it?

Re: Workplace discrimination

First, ask yourself whether you are the reason the policy exists.

If you aren't, then you need to raise the issue in that context: you're not any worse than anyone else, your clothing is workplace appropriate and your marital, parental and age status is irrelevant to your job.

Do it in writing and name names of people who have made comments, so that if it persists the issues are on the table. You might even go so far as to have pictures of your outfits, and then ask specifically what it is about them that is work inappropriate, given what other people wear. It's called "documentation."
