Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My boyfriend and I broke up. We live in Missouri in the house he owns. I have no where to go and he told me u could stay until I found a place. Now he is going back on his word and telling me to leave and threatening to call the cops. What legal right do I have if any?

If you pay household bills, and get your mail there, the Police will likely tell him that this is a civil matter. If he alleges that you've abused him, the Police may make you pack a bag and leave. As a civil matter, your ex will need to file an unlawful detainer action against you. If he prevails, the judgment might include an Order that you pay twice the fair market rent amount from the time he told you to leave until the date you actually get out. Therefore, unless you hav a written lease agreement with your ex, you should move as soon as possible. You may have to go to a motel until you can get an apartment. Perhaps there are some social service agencies, in your area, that can assist you.

Good luck
