Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My court case is Jackson County Missouri. I am the non-custodial parent of one child and pay child support. When the case was filed I was the only parent with an income. Since then the other parent has become disabled and receives SSDI and also receives auxiliary benefits for our daughter. My question is how does that change the child support? Does the support that my child receives for SSDI become part of the child support on the form 14? Does the court recognize SSDI as an income?

Any advice on this situation will help. My last attorney did not help at all.

Thank you, John

The benefits yrou chidl recieves may be good and bad for you. The amount the mother gets for her disability, may increase the total amount for the child, but may not reduce your contribution. The amount the child gets due to her mother's diability may reduce your contribution. But, the government may come to you to reimburse them for a portion of what they are paying for the child's benefit. As each factual scenario is a little different, you should try to consult directly with a family law attorney in your area, who can have access to more of the information specific to your situation. Many offer a free or low cost initial consultation.

Good luck
