Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My grandson was removed from his mother by Missouri social services. She called and asked me to come and get him so he is not placed in foster care. When I spoke to her case worker I was told it will take 6 months to get him. I am in California. Can anything be done to expedite this process?

It is possible but difficult process. The family courts in Missouri are hesitant to relinquish custody and jurisdiction to other counties, let alone other states. The six month prediction may be optimistic. Buy, if the temporary situation isn't fixed within a year, the child may have to go up for adoption. You did not say which County the child is in. If it is on the West half of Missouri, I may be able to help you. You may contact me by email.

Good luck
