Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

I would like to move to illinois or kentucky to be closer to friends and family but I am in a bad relationship that I want to get out of but him and his family say that if I move that they are going to try to get me for medicaid fraud and abuse or neglet which isn't true but they will all stick together and I have done alot of time edit slips but that was because I was trying not to commit medicaid fraud. And I have sole custody of my daughter but her father is married and is has been violent with me before but not as bad as this one. I guess my question is will I be able to move to a different state while still mainting sole custody of my daughter? Even if I no longer wish to be in another relationship.

If there is a custody and visitation order, you'll have to give the other parent sufficient written notice of your intended move. If he is violent towards you or the child, call the police. Your situation sounds complicated. You should consult directly with a family law attorney, in your area, before you report the move. As long as meaningful visitation can occur with other parent, the move is probably possible. But, get to an attorney soon. You were wide to seek general information here. You need advice specific to the particular facts of your situation.

Good luck

If there is a custody order, you have to move to change it. Meet with an experienced family law attorney.
