Re: Spousal support.

In response to your question, there are a couple of actions you can take to collect the child support owed to you.

First, most states have a govermental agency charged with the responsibility of "Child Support Enforcement." These state-run agencies recieve federal money and must comply with various fedrally mandated procedures. Generally, they provide assistance to persons who can not otherwise afford private legal counsel. I'm not

sure of the name or location of the agency where you are, but I would suggest contacting your state goverment for more information if you desire to seek assistance from the appropriate state agency.I'll bet that you could even find out about it on your state government web site.

Second, some people elect to hire a local attorney in the state where the person behind in the child support is located. The local attorney can register the Judgment for child support in the appropriate Court, and then run a garnishment against wages, a garnishment against bank accounts, or an execution agains personal property. the costs in filing fees, attorney's fees and so forth will vary depending upon circumstances and upon which local attorney you contact.
