Taking Minor out of the country

Can a joint custody parent take a minor child, (age 4) out of the country without the permission or knowledge of the other joint custody parent while in the middle of a custody case?

legally "NO" However, it may be physically possible for one parent to get a child out of the country. My advice is that you not take a child out of the country without the other parent's knowledge. If you are the parent afraid that your ex will take the child over the border, you should contact the office of Homeland Security, so that you might be informed if someone applies for a passport for the child.
