Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

A woman I was seeing is having a kid in October. She however is not sure the kid is mine. She says she's giving the kid up for adoption, has a couple picked out and after day 3 at the hospital they will take custody. I'm in the military so I'm not even around her anymore. She is saying that after she has the kid I'm gonna recieve legal papers waiving my rights to the kid. My question is if I'm not their to even sign the birth certificate and she's not even sure the kid is mine why would I have to sign paperwork waiving my rights? Do they really need a fathers signature even tho she's not certain who the dad is? Or does this sound like she's trying to trap me in child support and give all rights away to a kid that can be mine? To me it all seems fishy but I can confirm she is pregnant.

I would advise you to hire an attorney and obtain a Court Order for DNA testing. I would not sign anything purporting to give up any parental rights.

If you are denying paternity you may consent to the termination of any parental rights you have and consent to an adoption. That would terminate any child support obligation
