Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri

My son received a very upsetting facebook message from a ex-friend of mine insinuating that I have mental issues and that he should have me involuntarily committed. Can I sue?

If the message was sent to more than just your Son, you may have a more viable case than if just to him. But, you can probably still file a suit for defamation. There are very few things that cannot be the subject of a civil suit. The real question is if there is enough evidence to prove the claim.

Wrong!!! The real question is whether you suffered any financial loss by he law does not compensate hurt feelings. If you have actual financial damages, then you may have a case.
