Legal Question in Health Care Law in Missouri

Wound care and Intermittent catheter care

I recently went to work at a healthcare agency as a CNA. My new assignment is great, but I'm concerned about my job responsibilities which include decub wound care and intermittent catheter. I was not trained to do this in my CNA program and when I inquired about this at a group meeting I was told that it's considered an ''Activity of Daily Living'' and a job requirement that I have to perform. Another CNA trained me to do them, but I feel like it's beyond the duties of a CNA and if anything, I should be trained by an RN to do it. Am I wrong?

You are absolutely correct. You can call the Missouri Board of Nursing and they will help you out. They can send an investigator to determine if an inappropriate delegation has occurred. If you have any questions about this matter, please feel free to contact me.
