Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Missouri

Hello. I am a new artist starting out and I was wondering about the specifics of using an "artist name" legally (artist name meaning like a "pen name"). I would like an artist name, separate from and unlike my legal name, to be associated with my work. When putting copy on my website and work, is it okay for me to put "artist name" or do I need to put my legal name after the copyright to be properly protected? Can I just use my legal name in contracts and agreements? Also, would you suggest trademarking my artist name? Thank you for your time.

This is perfectly legal to do. You register the works as being pseudonymous. Yes, you should register your artistic name for additional protection. Call or email for further advice.
