Legal Question in Personal Injury in Missouri

Snow Removal

Is a homeowner more liable or less liable for injuries on their property when snow is removed? I have heard that there is less liability when snow is left alone because the hazard is more obvious and that the liability is greater when snow is removed (especially if not removed thoroughly) because the hazard may not be as obvious.

Re: Snow Removal

well hopefully you don't currently have snow on the ground here in Missouri. But seriously, you are somewhat correct. There is caselaw in Missouri that says if you undertake to remove snow/ice from your property, then you have to do a good job, otherwise an unsuspecting guest may believe you have done a good job and be less likely to tread with caution. I don't know that it means you are off the hook completely if you do absolutely nothing at al, you know someone is coming over and you know there is a danger of a fall.
