Re: Deed Transfer

If your husband owned the property jointly, then it is not difficult to clear up the title. In most counties all he has to do is file an "Affidavit of Death" concerning his former wife and record it with the Recorder of deeds. Then, if he wants to transfer the property to himself and you as husband and wife, this can be done by recording a Quitclaim deed to that effect. Neither one of these steps is particular complicated or expensive, but I would suggest that you allow an attorney to draw up the papers and take care of the recording. If I might be of assistance you can certainly call me at 314-727-2822.
