Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri

My car got towed on Saturday, June 28th of this year because I was parked in a private parking lot. I called the tow company and they told me that they had my car, but that I could not go and get it that night. I was confused on why they wouldn't let me get it that night, but I didn't worry about it and went in the next morning. When I get there that Sunday morning, however, the people of the towing company told me that the driver who towed my car had totaled the car in the process. My was smashed on both ends, the front was flat as if it hit something and the back looked like something sharp hit it. Over the course of the last three weeks my parents and I have been talking with them and trying to figure out what to do about this situation. The owners of the company did not file a police report, did not call their insurance, and did not tell me about what had happened to my car the night that I called about it getting towed. It had already been totaled when I called them at around 12:00 AM, when I first realized my car had been towed. These people are very suspicious and are not treating this situation as it should be treated. I do not know what to about this situation. They offered me 4,000 dollars for my car when it is worth way more than that. They completely destroyed my car beyond repair and basically don't want to do anything about it. I'm absolutely lost and have no idea where to go from here. Should I just file a lawsuit against these people? They have turned my life upside down because they were careless with my property and now do not want to own up to it. I really need help or any sort of advice or guidance so I don't get completely screwed over in this situation.

Thank you for your time,

Summer Moen.

It sounds like you or your parents will have to sue to get properly recompensed for your loss. You should consult directly with a civil practice attorney in your area.

Good luck
