What can i do?
I was pulled over on saturday night3-16-02 for drag racing. I WAS NOT racing at all. I pulled away from a green light as a black mustang did the same in the lane to the right of me. I sped up to pass him when he accelerated and slowed right next to me. I missed the turn i went to take, so i slowed down and turned into a hotel parking lot. As i was pulling out a police officer pulled in behind me and then turnd his lights on and wrote me a ticket... What do i do?

What state did this event occur in? The question which I am reading has both MO and MT referenced, and I note that a New Mexico attorney has already responded. If your problem is in the state of Missouri, I can tell you that you should hire an attorney to represent you in court. Most of the time it is more practical for you to enter into a plea bargain which will avoid a conviction on your record, points being assessed against your driving record, and your insurance company finding out about the ticket and raising your premium or cancelling you for drag racing. In many cases we are able to negotiate a deal which will have the effect of avoiding all of these negative consequences. Of course, if you insist upon pleading not guilty and proceeding to trial you should have an attorney to represent you.
