Legal Question in Criminal Law in Nevada

Two female students were in the same Kohls changing room. On girl tried to steal a watch by putting it on and and leaving the packaging in the aforementioned changing room. This was spotted and both girls were apprehended by security. The girl with the watch is charged with theft. The other girl is given a "ticket" to appear in court on 27 June for "Trespassing " and was warned she may be arrested when she goes to court in June.

Can you explain what how the innocent girl is ticketed for "trespassing" in a Kohls Shop in a Mall? What are the consequences in terms of punishment etc?

Shouldn't she simply explain that she was shopping and trying on clothes and is not responsible for her friend's actions.?

Many thanks for your time and expertise.

The other girl is lucky that she was just cited for trespassing. She could have easily been charged as an aider and abetter or a co-conspirator in larceny or even burglary. The idea behind the trespassing charge is to just keep her out of Kohls, not really to convict her. Any explanation will seem self-serving. would recommend that she get an attorney and he or she can get this dismissed in a diversion program. She may have to do some community service or pay a small fine but at least the case will be dismissed.
