Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Bigamy

I was married for 7 years before my husband left me. After several months I found out he had remarried without divorcing me. Turns out that when we married he was not complety divorced from his first wife. So I am not sure of my legal standing regarding this regarding being liable for any of his debts and can he come back and demand money and assets?

Re: Bigamy

You are still married to him despite his bigamy because the second marriage is void. In Nevada both spouses are liable for the community until divorce so you need to get divorced.

Re: Bigamy

If he was not single when you were married, your marriage is likely void and can be annulled (as opposed to getting divorced). We would need all the records to prove this though.

Regarding money and assets, this situation doesn't come along very often. I would have to more fully research the issue of whether either of you still have equitable rights to the other spouse's assets or are liable for the other's debts.

I would be willing to do this for a flat fee so if you want this taken care of, please contact me.
