Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

my fiance and i have been wanting to get married for years. my parents would like us to at least get our marriage license but his parents want us to wait due to trust and prenuptual agreements. his dad said he cut him off from their family business that he was part since the start if we get married without his okay. my fiance gave up his childhood and going to college to invest his time n their business. so we really don't want to go past his dad. we have our second baby on the way and we won't have my parents blessing until we at least get our marriage license. so my question is a marriage license doesn't mean were legally married its just paperwork to get ready right? and will getting it affect his parents trust or prenup plans? we live in Clark county las Vegas Nevada

Frankly, it sounds as if there is confusion, misinformation, and unstated real agendas on every side.

First, your parents. WHY do they want you to pull a license? If you don't actually have a marriage ceremony, it does nothing whatsoever -- and it expires if unused within one year. It really can't hurt anyone. But . . . your parents' blessing for WHAT?

Then his parents. What, exactly, is their objection? It can hardly be that they think the relationship is fleeting (two children later). Something is missing there.

It sounds to me that you -- and probably your intended -- should each have a detailed consultation with qualified family law counsel to explore your rights and responsibilities, and discuss premarital and other agreements. Consider setting a consultation appointment.
