Re: new engine in car

Unless you got a warranty on it you are out of luck a year later.

Re: new engine in car

The cause of the car not passing may have nothing to do with it being a new engine. Did the tech who flunked it offer any suggestions? They are not really supposed to, but will usually give an idea of what caused it to be a "dirty" engine.

The price you paid probably did not include completely new fuel, emissions and exhaust systems. If the new engine has your old injectors, the mechanic recycled your whole emissions system, and you are still running the original catalytic converter, any one of these could be the source of your problems, rather than the new engine.

You need to have a competent mechanic check it out to find what is the source of the higher emissions level, and do not just assume the new engine is to blame. Look first to those areas mentioned above, then try to find a resolution at an economical price.

Good luck!
