Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Nevada

money gift

I was leasing a vehicle and a friend of mine wanted to pay it off and did so 3/03. It is a 2001 vehicle. We made no written agreement for me to pay them back. I did say I would pay them monthly until paid. They said don't worry about it ! We are no longer friends and I have not paid any money to them. I want to use the vehicle as a trade in on a new vehicle. Do I have to pay them any money ? Can they take me to court ? The vehicle was $21,000 to pay off. It is worth $12,000 in trade and $15,000 in the retail market.

Re: money gift

Well, don't be a skunk here! If you committed to paying them monthly, and have not yet made ANY payments to them, you are being one. Do not look for a legal escape from your commitment. Your friends were kind enough to help you when you needed it, and you reward them by trying to find a way out of that to which you agreed? Sheesh! Don't come to lawyers looking for a way to shirk your self-imposed responsibility. It surely sounds to me that you owe them $21k, or some compromised amount, based on their "don't worry about it" reply to your offer to repay.
