Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Nevada

Towing Company Wrecked My Truck

I went to reclaim my truck from impound and was told that the truck was damaged by the towing company. They told me that my truck had hit a fire hydrant. The estimate to repair the truck was about $3000. The trucks low blue book is $1300. A week of talking about replacing that truck with any reasonably comparable truck they offered me $1175 as compensation. They keep the truck and I have a tow bill, plus storage in the amount of $400 plus dollars. They scrap the vehicle make some of their money back. I have lost a week worth of work as I use that truck for jobs. That amount will not replace that truck. In addition I would have to pay taxes, smog and registration, that was not a consideration in their offer. Also I have had to pay cab fair during this ordeal, which is more costly than my own vehicle. My question is are the liable for the total lose, transportation costs, loss of work and the replacement amount for the vehicle? Or am I only entitled to the amount of the blue book value? And the storage since the accident would be my responsibility when I tried to pick it up on day one?

Re: Towing Company Wrecked My Truck

Thank you for your inquiry.

If your truck is damaged due to negligence by the towing company you could bring a civil suit against them for the value of the truck prior to accident, lost wages, cab fare, and any other economic damages sustained by yourself during this time period.

I would recommend that you speak to an attorney about the matter. Contact my office if you'd like to speak to my office further about your case.
